I am so proud to be a part of a residency program and a department that does innovative and creative educational content like what we did during one of our mixed teaching Tuesday sessions for all residents last week.

Faculty from the global health division of our department ran a mock simulation of what it might be like to be a family fleeing as a refugee from Syria, Turkey, or Iraq. After Dr. Kaur reviewed some fundamental concepts (legal, political, social, medical) surrounding the current World Refugee Crisis, Dr. Witte took roughly 30 of our residents through an "Oregon Trail" type simulation. It was really unique, everyone learned a lot, and the residents gave us great feedback about the session after.
