Weill Cornell pediatric anesthesiologists provide care to infants and children undergoing surgery and requisite procedures at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYPH). These anesthesiologists are specifically trained in the care and special needs of the pediatric patients throughout the peri-operative period. The pediatric anesthesiologists have extensive experience is providing anesthesia for the full spectrum of pediatric surgical care, which ranges from general surgery, urology, burn surgery, otorhinolaryngology (ENT), plastic surgery, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, and ophthalmology. Additionally, there is a wide range of non-surgical procedures performed at NYPH, which require care of a pediatric anesthesiologist.
Our pediatric anesthesiologists collaborate closely with all of the other pediatric health care staff at the NewYork-Presbyterian/Komansky Center for Children’s Health to optimize care during the hospital stay, whether it is a same day procedure, or an inpatient admission. Anesthetic management of infants and children are customized to the age, underlying medical conditions, procedural type and individual needs of each patient. We are united in our goal of providing care that minimizes your child’s anxiety. This achieved by allowing parents to be part of the operating room experience by accompanying their child, in most cases, into the operating room or procedural suite for the initiation of the anesthetic. Additionally, there is a dedicated staff of child-life professionals who work with the children and families pre-operatively to allay their fears, and answer questions.
Our goal for each and every patient is to provide not only a safe state of the art anesthetic, but to be compassionate, understanding physicians that help promote the well-being of all children requiring our care.
