Dr. Gunisha Kaur, assistant professor of anesthesiology, participated in a community and health policy Town Hall Meeting held November 2 in Queens, NY. Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy, the United States Surgeon General, was the guest speaker.

Dr. Kaur attended the Town Hall Meeting at the invitation of Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-Queens, the Bronx). She joined community members in a question and answer-style discussion with Dr. Murthy and the congressman that focused on health concerns facing the city, state and country, and on issues of importance to the South Asian American community. During the exchange, Dr. Kaur spoke briefly about her research on chronic pain management in survivors of torture.
An anesthesiologist specializing in international health, Dr. Kaur heads the Department of Anesthesiology’s Global Health Initiative.
