Presentations

Department of Anesthesiology residents participated in the third Jeopardy Competition and Case Report Presentation Night, sponsored by the New York Academy of Medicine on May 9. The presentations included: 

Katherine Arthur, MD presented "Aortocaval Compression Causing Hemodynamic Instability in a Morbidly Obese Patient." 

Andrew Fisher, MD presented "Anesthetic Management of Duodenal Atresia and Aorto-Enteric Fistula Secondary to Vascular Prosthesis Infection."

Nicole Ginsberg, MD presented and won second place for "Insidious MH: Is this the new presentation?"

Maura McTague, MD, and Jon Samuels, MD presented "Management of labor analgesia for a parturient with chronic headaches and opiate dependence."

Selaiman Noori, MD presented "Acute Epidural Hematoma Occurring After Removal of Percutaneous Spinal cord Stimulatore Trial Leads in a Cancer Patient with Chronic Thrombocytopenia." 

Christopher Sattler, MD presented "Parapharyngeal Abscess and the Difficult Airway." 

Stephanie Willet, MD presented "Undiagnosed Pheochromocytoma in a Patient Undergoing Bicep Tendon Repair with Regional Anesthesia."  She also presented "On the Edge of ECMO: Anesthetic Management of a Tracheal Foreign Body in a Chronically Treached Patient." 

Honors

Abdullah Rasheed, MD, was selected by the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists (SOCCA) to receive its 2017 Young Investigator Award for "Multistate Perioperative Outcomes of Carotid Revascularization: Carotid Artery Stenting vs. Carotid Endarterectomy." Co-authors are Robert S. White, Tiffany Peng, Xian Wu, Licia Gaber-Baylis, Gregory P. Giambrone and Kane O Pryor.
