
Faculty from the Department of Anesthesiology participated in the Open Medical institute’s 2023 Vietnam Seminar in Anesthesiology, Critical Care, and Pulmonogy, held July 23-27 in Hanoi.
Course directors were Dr. Augustine M.K Choi and Dr. Hugh C. Hemmings, Jr, the Joseph F. Artusio Jr Professor and Chair of Anesthesiology and senior associate dean for research at Weill Cornell Medicine. Faculty included Dr. Christine Lennon, an assistant professor of clinical anesthesiology and chief of abdominal transplant anesthesiology, and Dr. Liang Shen, an assistant professor of clinical anesthesiology and associate program director of the Anesthesiology Critical Care Fellowship.
The Open Medical Institute (OMI) is an international educational initiative which supports medical professionals and aims to improve healthcare on a global scale. Since 1993, Weill Cornell Medicine faculty have been engaged in the OMI program by teaching thousands of young and dedicated doctors from underserved parts of the world in different areas of adult medicine.
This year marks the program’s expansion to Southeast Asia. Thirty fellows from Laos, Nepal, the Phillipines and Vietnam were selected to attend the anesthesiology seminar.
