Q&A: International Medical Graduates

June 4, 2014

I recently received the following inquiry through my blog about international medical graduates:

"Dear Dr Brumberger  I am an IMG recently graduated from India mar 2014 ?  I just wanted  to know does your programme takes IMG if they have good amount of publication , nice board scores , and relevant research experience.

- Anonymous"

I am sure like most other anesthesiology residency programs, at Weill Cornell, we annually receive hundreds of applications from qualified physicians that attended medical schools abroad. I am proud to say that at Weill Cornell we see the benefit in diversity and I am always excited to interview and potentially match physicians from all over the world that are exceptional students, hard-working, and passionate about becoming anesthesiologists. The competition is fierce, however, and the current and prior residents in our program that have graduated from international medical schools typically stand out from the larger applicant pool by offering something incredibly unique to our resident body.

The members of our Residency Classes, and their medical schools, dating back to 2002, can be found here.
