Expo Highlights Department of Anesthesiology Research

Research from the Department of Anesthesiology was on display at the 12th Annual Research Exposition, held May 11 in the P3 and M3 wing corridors. Posters lined the hallways, showcasing lab and clinical research studies on topics ranging from lipid scrambling by TMEM16 proteins, to the influence of age and gender on opioid dosage in chronic non-cancer pain patients.

Residents Take First Place in Jeopardy Competition

Anesthesiology residents from across the region competed in the third Jeopardy Competition and Case Report Presentation Night, sponsored by The New York Academy of Medicine on May 9.

Drs. Brett Weiner and Jacob Jackson, residents in the class of 2017, claimed the first place trophy for Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork Presbyterian in one of the two rounds. Dr. Rasheed Receives SOCCA's 2017 Young Investigator Award

Dr. Abdullah Rasheed, a resident in the class of 2020, was selected by the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists (SOCCA) to receive its 2017 Young Investigator Award. His research, titled “Multistate Perioperative Outcomes of Carotid Revascularization: Carotid Artery Stenting vs Carotid Endarterectomy,” was chosen from more than 95 abstract submissions.

Co-authors are Robert S. White, Tiffany Peng, Xian Wu, Licia Gaber-Baylis, Gregory P. Giambrone and Kane O Pryor.
