Residents Honored at Patient Safety Awareness Event

With Patient Safety Awareness Week underway, the Department of Anesthesiology held a luncheon on March 14 to reflect on its quality and patient safety accomplishments and set goals for the year ahead. Faculty, residents, CRNAs and staff attended the event and presentation by the Quality and Patient Safety team.

“The luncheon is the highlight of the week because it gives the department a chance to come together to share patient safety improvement ideas and acknowledge select clinicians for their exceptional patient safety efforts,” said Quality and Patient Safety Administrator Nicole Hitti, adding "our clinicians strive to provide the best care possible to their patients every day."

Drs. Laura Galinko and Mitchell Daniel, both residents in the Class of 2019,  were recipients of the Anesthesiology Patient Safety Award for the month of March. The award is presented to members of the department who go the extra mile to keep patients safe.

Patient Safety Awareness Week, held this year March 11-17, is an annual education and awareness campaign led by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, together with the National Patient Safety Foundation.
