Eighteen graduating medical students and two residents matched into the Department of Anesthesiology's residency program on March 15, the day when thousands of medical students across the country learn where they will train as resident physicians.
"I am incredibly proud of our 2019 match list," said Dr. Eric Brumberger, assistant professor of anesthesiology and the residency program director. "Our recruits come from the best institutions across the country already having accomplished so much during their young careers."
The new residents bring a wide range of talents and interests to the department, ranging from medical illustration to marathon running. Many have advanced degrees, including three PhDs and two MBAs.
We look forward to welcoming them on July 1.
This year's residency match is the largest ever, according to the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP), with a record 38,376 applicants submitting program choices for 35,185 positions.
