The Department of Anesthesiology is comprised of over 75 highly skilled attending anesthesiologists dedicated to providing the highest quality of care to all of our patients.
Every member of our faculty has received extensive training in all areas of anesthesiology, and many of our staff members have additional expertise and training in providing anesthesia for specific types of surgery, such as cardiac, thoracic, vascular, neurological, obstetric, and pediatric surgery.
The Department of Anesthesiology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell has board-certified anesthesiologists on hand for every surgery. Every anesthesiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital has received extensive training in all areas of anesthesiology, and many staff members have additional expertise and training in providing anesthesia for specific types of surgery, as well as pain control during labor and delivery.
- Provides clinical care, teaching, and research expertise to Weill Cornell Medical College at both the New York City and Qatar campuses.
- Home to c.75 faculty with expertise in numerous anesthesia subspecialties and holding leadership positions in the major national and international societies and journals. Our anesthesia care team includes c.50 Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs).
- Residency Program has positions for approximately 80 physicians in training, including interns and residents. ACGME-approved fellowships in Pain Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Cardiothoracic Anesthesia, and additional fellowships in Thoracic Anesthesia, Regional Anesthesia, and Obstetric Anesthesia.
- Internationally-recognized basic science and clinical research supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research, among others.
